Viruses are being used in all sorts of research to help cure human diseases. I work in a cancer research lab and we use retroviruses to deliver genes into cells that we want to study. so in this case all 'biological' viruses are not bad. Without them we would have a harder time studying the diseases that face the world's population.

Depends on how you wish to look at this one. Viruses serve a purpose just like everything else on this planet. They are responsible for the transfer of genes and in part, do their job in serving to curve the populations of every living thing on the planet.

As for Genetic Engineering, there is still much research that needs to be done before it is perfected, however, it looks very promising, especially for those who have type 1 diabetes.
