No. Spyware is a term used to describe a malicious piece of software. Anti-spyware is a term used to describe software to combat spyware. The generic term for any bad software is ''malware'' - this includes spyware, adware, trojans, rootkits and viruses - all of which plague the Microsoft Windows operating systems. Many pieces of software are available to help combat this plague - some do more than others.

No~
depends entirely upon what the virus is programmed to do. To be safe, you need individual defense for both.
Spyware doesn't detect anything.

Anti-spyware detects spyware.

Anti-virus software detects viruses.
no and i really hate adware
No. Anti-Spyware such as Spybot and Adaware will find most Spy/Ad-ware files, but to find a virus you need a virus scanning program, such as Macafee, or Symantec or Norton or AVG or F-Secure, among others.

Check with your ISP, they *might* offer a free virus protection program as part of your service.
I think what you're asking is if software that is designed to scan for spyware can also find viruses. The short answer is it depends on the software.

In general, if the program is designed to scan for spyware/malware, it doesn't scan for viruses. The reason for this is because you can only use one AV at a time, but multiple anti-malware programs.

More AV programs are adding malware scanning to their repertoire, though, so in this case, one program can do both.
